Newark police seek man wanted for questioning in double shooting on North 5th Street

Newark, NJ – Authorities are searching for a Newark man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that left two people injured earlier this month in the city’s North Ward.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating 23-year-old Aariyan Walker, who is wanted for questioning following a December 6 shooting that occurred just after 4 p.m. in the 30 block of North 5th Street. The city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted officers to the gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the floor of a grocery store with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was rushed to University Hospital, where officers later located a second victim from the same incident. Police have not released information on the condition of either victim.

During the investigation, officers recovered two 9mm shell casings and a black Nike ski mask at the scene.

Walker is described as a Black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 165 pounds, with hazel eyes and black hair.
