Online Mega Millions ticket turns into $100K win for Virginia player

WILLIAMSBURG, VA — A Virginia man scored a $100,000 Mega Millions prize after purchasing his ticket online for the March 3 drawing.

Bradley Mathews of Williamsburg matched four of the first five numbers plus the Mega Ball, a combination that normally wins $10,000.

His prize jumped to $100,000 thanks to a 10X multiplier attached to the ticket.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 7, 21, 53, 54 and 62, with Mega Ball 16.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights, with players having the option to purchase tickets online if they are located within Virginia.

Virginia Lottery proceeds support K-12 education, including more than $5.4 million distributed to schools in James City County last fiscal year.
