A search warrant was executed on Monday, August 18, at 197 Sidney Road, leading to the seizure of 37 cats and 8 dogs. Of those animals, seven were in need of urgent care and were transported to Crown Veterinary Specialists for immediate treatment.
The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin Township Police Department, Hunterdon County Health Department, Hazmat units, and several animal welfare and rescue organizations such as Animal Services of Independence, Animal Alliance, Outcast Rescue, Tabby’s Place, Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, and South Branch Emergency Services.
Authorities have not yet released details about the condition of the home or the circumstances that led to the warrant being issued. The animals are now in the custody of local shelters and rescue organizations pending further evaluation and placement.
