PALM CITY, FL — A dramatic sequence of events unfolded starting at a Bank of America in Palm City and culminating on Interstate 95, leading to the arrest of two men involved in a violent bank jugging incident. The victim, after withdrawing money, noticed her tire pressure was low due to her tires being slashed, a detail she discovered only after stopping at a WAWA in Stuart to refill them. It was there that 39-year-old Adrian Felipe Perez-Rocha, reportedly from Colombia, stole her bank envelope, purse, and cell phone from her vehicle.
Perez-Rocha then fled to a getaway vehicle driven by 27-year-old Bryam Cardenas-Moreno, also reported as Colombian but with an address in Chicago. When the victim attempted to recover her belongings, she was violently pushed to the ground. The suspects then headed north on I-95 but were soon apprehended by MCSO Corporal Ronnie Manganiello following a felony vehicle stop. Items recovered from the suspects’ vehicle included the victim’s possessions, a window punch, gloves, and disguises.
This incident is part of a worrying trend linked to a South American theft group known for recruiting criminals across the U.S. and showing a disregard for life and property. Martin County officials are cautioning residents to stay vigilant, especially when leaving banks. They recommend keeping valuables out of sight, securing vehicles immediately, and monitoring surroundings for any suspicious activity.
Perez-Rocha faces charges including Robbery by Snatching, Tampering with Evidence, and Grand Theft, enhanced under the traveling criminal statute. Cardenas-Moreno was charged with fleeing and eluding, with potential additional charges pending. Immigration Services have been notified of the arrests. The community is reminded to call 911 if they suspect they are being targeted in a similar manner, especially if their vehicle is struck or they experience sudden tire pressure loss.
