BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Lafayette Avenue, according to the NYPD.
At approximately 3:09 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a pedestrian hit in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Investigators from the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that an unknown vehicle traveling northbound on Bedford Avenue struck the male pedestrian at the intersection before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who sustained severe head and body trauma, was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made, and police are actively searching for the driver. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification, and the investigation is ongoing.
