SCHENECTADY, NY – A 59-year-old man was killed Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle at a city intersection, prompting an active investigation by Schenectady police and county authorities.
Officers responded at about 9:35 p.m. to the area of Albany Street and Elbert Street following reports of an auto-pedestrian crash, according to the Schenectady Police Department.
Police said the pedestrian, a Schenectady resident, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and later died. His name has not been released.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators, police said. No charges have been announced.
The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office as officers work to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.
