Philadelphia robbery suspect captured in High Bridge, faces gun charges

High Bridge, NJ – A fugitive wanted in connection with a Philadelphia robbery investigation was arrested Thursday at a residence in Hunterdon County, authorities announced. According to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, 25-year-old James Robinson-Burton of Philadelphia was located and taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service with assistance from the High Bridge Police Department.

Robinson-Burton was charged as a fugitive from justice under New Jersey law and additionally faces second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm and fourth-degree possession of a large-capacity magazine after investigators recovered a semiautomatic handgun from the residence.

He is currently being held at the Warren County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for January 28 before Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger. A pre-indictment conference is also set for March 2.

Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and Police Chief Brett Bartman said the arrest was the result of coordinated efforts among federal and local law enforcement agencies. If convicted, Robinson-Burton faces up to ten years in prison and fines that could total more than $150,000.
