Philadelphia shootout leaves two dead, two injured after family dispute erupts on Oakland Street

PHILADELPHIA, P.A. – A violent family dispute turned deadly late Wednesday morning when gunfire erupted outside a Northeast Philadelphia home, leaving two men dead and two others wounded, police said.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired discovered 52-year-old Luis Colon of the 7100 block of Oakland Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Police rushed Colon to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m.

Moments later, radio transmissions alerted officers that the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored Chrysler 300. The vehicle later arrived at Temple University Hospital carrying two additional gunshot victims. One, identified as 21-year-old Quadir Tull of the 2100 block of West Jefferson Street, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m. A second 21-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the hand was listed in stable condition.

Investigators say the confrontation began when the suspects arrived at Colon’s home to confront his stepdaughter. Police said the suspects are relatives of the stepdaughter’s ex-boyfriend, who was not at the scene. During the altercation, 44-year-old Cara Williams-Reeves and another unidentified female allegedly attacked Colon’s stepdaughter and wife on the front lawn.

When Colon intervened, police said Tull and Tyriq Williams pushed him aside and pulled out firearms. Colon then drew his own weapon, and a shootout ensued involving all three men.

After further investigation, police arrested Cara Williams-Reeves and Tyriq Williams. Both have been charged with murder and related offenses.

A neighborhood argument over a family dispute escalated into a deadly gunfight in Philadelphia, killing two men and injuring two others.
