Philadelphia tow truck rivalry turns deadly as police hunt business owner accused of killing two competitors

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Police are searching for a Philadelphia towing company owner accused of murdering two rival drivers in a violent feud that has shaken the city’s towing industry.

According to investigators, 27-year-old Najee Williams is wanted for the murders of David Garcia Morales, 20, and Aaron Whitfield, 25, both tow truck drivers. Authorities believe Williams targeted his competitors in two separate shootings weeks apart, killing both men as part of an escalating territorial dispute.

Police said the first shooting occurred on December 22, 2025, around noon, in the 4200 block of Torresdale Avenue. Responding officers found Morales slumped inside a 2017 Ford F-450 Super Duty tow truck suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and thigh. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died four days later.

The second attack took place on January 11, 2026, just before 8 p.m., in the 2100 block of Knorr Street, roughly three miles north of the first scene. There, officers found Whitfield inside a tow truck, dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.

Suspect wanted on multiple felony charges

Williams is wanted for two counts of murder, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, possession of an instrument of crime, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Detectives have not confirmed a motive, but sources indicate the killings may be linked to ongoing competition among local towing companies vying for lucrative city contracts and accident recoveries.

Whitfield, remembered through a GoFundMe campaign, was described as a “hard-working young man who was just trying to build his future.” Morales’s obituary, posted by McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations, called him a “kind, dedicated worker whose life was cut short by senseless violence.”
