Pickleball is Coming To Jackson: Township Receives $70,000 Senior Recreation Grant

Jackson Township has applied for and received a $70,000 Local Recreational Improvement grant from the State of New Jersey in the amount of $70,000. According to the state, the grant can be used to enhance and expand recreational services for the township’s growing senior citizen community.

Jackson has a large senior citizen population concentration in several major adult communities.

The township has announced it will use the grant to build pickleball courts. In recent years, pickleball has become a popular sport for senior citizens.  The tennis- like game is played on a smaller court.

The grant was awarded by the Department of Community Affairs. As the state recently approved the grant, no further details are available at this time.

In the coming months, Jackson Township Mayor Michael Reina and the Jackson Township Council will inform the community where and when the courts will be constructed.
