A celebrated police K-9 who helped take millions in drugs off the streets officially ended his law enforcement career this week with a ceremonial sendoff in Manchester Township.
On Wednesday, K-9 Lynk was honored with a formal walk-out at Manchester Police headquarters. Family, friends, fellow K-9 teams, and township officials gathered to mark the retirement of the Belgian Malinois, who served alongside Sgt. Steve Wendruff since 2015.
Over nearly a decade, Lynk supported patrol units and specialized in narcotics detection. His efforts led to more than $22 million in drug seizures, over $1.7 million in recovered currency, multiple firearm recoveries, and the location of missing persons. Lynk also carried out the department’s sole criminal apprehension during a burglary in progress.
Chief Antonio Ellis and Sgt. Wendruff praised Lynk’s discipline, loyalty, and lasting impact on the department and community during the event.
Lynk’s law enforcement journey began in Hungary in 2014. He was brought to New Jersey using drug seizure funds, later graduating from the Ewing Police K-9 Patrol Academy in 2015 and earning his narcotics detection certification from the New Jersey State Police in 2016.
One of the last marijuana-imprinted K-9s in the state, Lynk even appeared in a Pennsylvania SPCA documentary highlighting his unique role and training history.
