Police hunt for hoodie-wearing thief after robbery on U Street

Late-night robbery rocks U Street as hooded suspect vanishes into crowd

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A robbery unfolded late Sunday night in Northwest D.C., as police investigate a suspect who fled the scene in the bustling U Street corridor.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 20, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1200 block of U Street, NW, for a report of a robbery. A lookout was issued for a Black male suspect wearing a gray hoodie, black jeans, and gray shoes.

No injuries were reported and authorities have not yet disclosed what was taken during the incident. Investigators have not released surveillance footage or additional suspect details as of Monday morning.

The case remains under active investigation, and no arrests have been announced.

MPD encourages public cooperation

Anyone with knowledge of this incident is asked to take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Tipsters may remain anonymous. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
