Three $100K Powerball tickets sold in Pennsylvania during historic $1.787B jackpot draw

Middletown, PA – While the record-setting Powerball jackpot was split between lucky players in Missouri and Texas, three Pennsylvanians quietly cashed in with $100,000 prizes each, thanks to Power Play options on tickets sold in Lackawanna and Allegheny counties.

The three Powerball with Power Play tickets matched four of the five white balls drawn — 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 — along with the red Powerball 17 in the September 6 drawing. Each winner boosted their payout to $100,000 due to the Power Play multiplier of 2. Without it, each ticket would have been worth $50,000.

The winning tickets were sold at the following retailers:

Archbald Foodmart LLC, 202 Betty St., Archbald Boro, Lackawanna County
Giant Eagle, 9805 McKnight Road, McCandless Township, Allegheny County
GetGo, 4099 Grandview Drive, Richland Township, Allegheny County

Each retailer earns a $500 bonus for selling a winning ticket.

These wins came during the 42nd draw of a historic Powerball run, which ultimately ended Saturday night when two tickets in Missouri and Texas matched all six numbers to win a combined $1.787 billion jackpot — the second-largest in U.S. lottery history. Each of those jackpot winners can choose either the full annuity of $893.6 million or a lump sum payment of $410.3 million.

In Pennsylvania alone, the jackpot buildup generated over $130 million in sales and more than $52 million in profit for programs benefiting older residents across the state.

More than 472,000 additional Powerball tickets sold in Pennsylvania also won prizes during the Saturday drawing, with 97,400 tickets including Power Play and over 47,700 tickets purchased with Double Play.

The Powerball jackpot has since reset to $20 million for the next drawing.
