Powerball player turns NJ ticket into $1M win

Essex County player wins $1 million Powerball prize in East Orange

TRENTON, NJ — A New Jersey Lottery player in Essex County is now a millionaire after matching all five white balls in Monday’s Powerball drawing, falling just one number short of the $209 million jackpot.

The winning ticket, worth $1 million, was sold at Hari Mini Store, located at 620 Thomas Boulevard in East Orange. The player matched the white ball numbers 05, 28, 34, 37, and 55. The red Power Ball was 17, and the multiplier was 3. The player did not select the Power Play option, which would have increased the prize to $2 million.

The odds of matching all five white balls without the Power Ball are 1 in 11,688,054. No tickets matched all six numbers in Monday’s drawing, causing the jackpot to roll to an estimated $209 million for Wednesday’s draw.

Powerball drawings are held three times per week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
