$50K Powerball ticket sold in Silver Spring as jackpot climbs to $930 million

Silver Spring, MD – A Powerball player in Silver Spring came within one number of winning it all, walking away with a $50,000 prize from Monday night’s drawing as the jackpot surged to nearly $1 billion.

The winning ticket, sold at the Columbia Road Exxon at 12601 Old Columbia Pike in Montgomery County, matched four out of the five white balls plus the red Powerball. The winning numbers drawn on December 8 were 8, 32, 52, 56, 64, and Powerball 23.

Although the ticket missed the top prize by just one number, it secured a third-tier win worth $50,000. The identity of the winner has not yet been revealed.

With no player nationwide hitting all six numbers, the Powerball jackpot now stands at an estimated $930 million for the next drawing on Wednesday, with a cash option of approximately $429 million.

State lottery officials noted that more than 21,600 Powerball players across Maryland won prizes in the same drawing, ranging from $4 to $100.

The Maryland Lottery reminds players to sign the back of winning tickets and keep them safe. Prizes over $25,000 must be claimed in person at the Lottery’s Customer Resource Center in Baltimore by appointment only. All winning tickets must be redeemed within 182 days of the drawing.
