Rabbi Moshe Raitzik, Lakewood’s Newest Fire Commissioner Resigns from School Board

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Rabbi Moshe Raitzik has won a seat on the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners, unseating incumbent Larry Loigman in a closely watched local election.

Raitzik won a contentious three-way race.

The outcome marks a shift in the township’s fire district leadership and adds another chapter to Raitzik’s long record of public service.

Raitzik’s public service background

Raitzik served on the Lakewood Board of Education and previously spent five years on the Planning Board before being replaced by the Township Committee in favor of Yechiel Herzel. A veteran educator and community advocate, Raitzik has been known for his pragmatic approach to local governance and his emphasis on collaboration and efficiency.

He has built a reputation as a steady voice in township affairs, often described as focused on solutions and continual improvement.

The Fire District oversees emergency response operations and budgeting for Lakewood’s growing community. Raitzik’s election signals a potential shift in priorities as the department continues to balance expanding residential development with increasing public safety needs.
