WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 28-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday night in a crash on Minnieville Road after reportedly running a red light and colliding with a car making a turn, authorities said.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Minnieville Road and Prince William Parkway in the 22193 ZIP code area. According to the Prince William County Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit, the operator of a 2019 Indian FTR 1200 motorcycle was traveling eastbound when he disregarded a red traffic signal.
As the motorcycle entered the intersection, a 2019 Kia Soul driven by a 61-year-old woman from Woodbridge was making a left turn from the westbound lanes of Minnieville Road onto Prince William Parkway. The motorcycle collided with the Kia during the turn, resulting in a violent impact that ejected the rider from the bike.
Emergency responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. He was later identified as Christian Alexis Zayas, 28, of Woodbridge. Authorities stated the motorcycle and rider became separated after the crash.
The driver of the Kia Soul and her passenger sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Police have not released their names, and no charges have been announced.
