Routine lottery pick turns into $100K payday for local player at 7-Eleven

Hampton man hits same numbers 20 times to score $100K lottery windfall

HAMPTON, Va. — Playing the same four numbers day after day finally paid off in a big way for one Virginia man who turned a simple routine into a $100,000 lottery win.

Prentice Douglas had been consistently betting on the numbers 3-2-3-8 in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game — and when those exact digits hit in the March 7 daytime drawing, his persistence delivered a massive payout.

Douglas didn’t just play the numbers once.

He purchased 20 separate plays using the same combination, meaning each winning ticket was worth $5,000 — adding up to a total prize of $100,000.

The lucky tickets were purchased at a 7-Eleven on Cunningham Drive in Hampton.

Despite the life-changing win, Douglas said he doesn’t have any immediate plans for the money.

Pick 4 drawings take place twice daily, offering players a shot at a top prize of $5,000 on a $1 play. The odds of matching all four numbers in exact order are 1 in 10,000.

Virginia Lottery officials say proceeds from ticket sales support public education across the state, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to K-12 schools.
