School bus driver scores $50K in Southern Maryland Lottery win

Ravens fan scores $50,000 Pick 5 win deep in Commanders country

LEONARDTOWN, MD – A St. Mary’s County man is $50,000 richer after his favorite five-digit number hit in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 midday drawing on December 2—proving that loyalty pays off, even in rival territory.

The Southern Maryland resident, a dedicated Baltimore Ravens fan living in a neighborhood full of Washington Commanders supporters, placed a $1 straight bet on the number 10238 and watched it come out exactly as played.

The lucky winner, a school bus driver, claimed the top prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on December 4. Though this is the largest amount he’s ever won, he remained composed and modest when claiming the ticket, saying he doesn’t play every day but was glad he had a ticket when it mattered.

He plans to use the winnings to improve his financial stability.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Food Lion grocery store located at 40955 Merchant Lane in Leonardtown. As a reward for selling the ticket, the store will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.

The win comes during the Lottery’s ongoing Let it Snow promotion, which runs through December 28 and offers Instant Win Coupons and free $5 Snowflake Cash FAST PLAY tickets to players of Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 games.
