Second Suspect Charged in Connection With Armed Bank Robberies in Massachusetts

May 25, 2026

Federal prosecutors have charged a second suspect in connection with two armed bank robberies that targeted Boston-area banks last month.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, 25-year-old Angel Gonzalez of West Yarmouth was charged by criminal complaint with armed bank robbery.

Authorities said Gonzalez is currently being held in state custody on unrelated charges and is expected to appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.

Another suspect, identified as Steven Harris, was previously charged earlier this month and remains in federal custody.

Prosecutors Describe Violent Robbery Allegations

According to charging documents, Gonzalez allegedly participated in armed robberies at a Santander Bank branch in Roxbury and a TD Bank branch in Roslindale on April 28, 2026.

Federal prosecutors allege Gonzalez brandished a firearm during both robberies.

During the Santander Bank robbery, investigators said Gonzalez allegedly dragged a bank employee from her office to the teller area while threatening to shoot her and holding her at gunpoint.

At the TD Bank location, authorities said Gonzalez entered carrying the same firearm with his finger on the trigger. Prosecutors allege Harris then forced multiple employees from their offices into the bank’s main area while Gonzalez threatened workers with the weapon.

Investigators said Gonzalez allegedly stole approximately $3,000 from a teller drawer before both suspects fled in a getaway vehicle.

FBI Leading Investigation

The FBI’s Boston Division is leading the investigation with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police.

Federal officials noted that the armed bank robbery charge carries a possible sentence of up to 25 years in prison, supervised release, and substantial fines if convicted.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aidan Lang of the Major Crimes Unit.
