STAMFORD, Conn. — A federal grand jury has indicted Jamaine Jones, 34, of Stamford, on multiple charges related to drug distribution and firearm possession, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut announced.
The three-count indictment was returned on August 21, 2024, following Jones’ February arrest by Stamford police.
Jones, who has been in state custody since his arrest on February 9, 2024, appeared in federal court on September 15 and pleaded not guilty to the charges before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas O. Farrish in Hartford.
The indictment alleges that on the day of his arrest, Jones was in possession of phencyclidine (PCP) with the intent to distribute and had a loaded Beretta 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
According to federal prosecutors, Jones’ criminal history includes felony convictions for drug, robbery, and assault offenses, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
The charges against him include possession with intent to distribute PCP, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, which carries a mandatory consecutive sentence of at least five years; and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, with a maximum sentence of 15 years.
