Stolen car found two teens charged after Navy Yard holdup

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred in broad daylight near the Navy Yard, and police are now seeking two additional suspects caught on surveillance footage.

The incident took place at approximately 12:08 p.m. on Friday, May 9, in the 1200 block of 4th Street SE. The suspects approached the victim as they exited their vehicle, brandished a handgun, and demanded the car keys before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

The next day, Sixth District officers and members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Robbery Suppression Unit located the vehicle and apprehended two juveniles. A firearm was also recovered during the arrests.

Two teens charged as search continues for additional suspects

Following an investigation, police charged a 15-year-old male from Southeast D.C. with Armed Carjacking. A 14-year-old male from Glenarden, Maryland, was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

Two other suspects involved in the carjacking remain unidentified. Their images were captured by surveillance cameras and released by police as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident or the unidentified suspects is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
