Stray bullet from neighbors apartment injures woman in Baltimore County

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD – A 19-year-old faces criminal charges after a stray bullet from his apartment struck a woman in the leg early Friday morning.

The shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 6600 block of Wycombe Way, police said.

The woman, who was inside her own residence at the time, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives identify shooter and recover weapon

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit quickly located the individual who possessed the firearm when it discharged. The weapon was secured as evidence as detectives continued to examine how the shooting occurred.

Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name but confirmed he will face appropriate criminal charges.

Victim recovering, investigation ongoing

Police said the injured woman is expected to recover. Detectives are working to determine whether the firearm was discharged accidentally or recklessly.

Officials reminded residents to handle firearms responsibly and ensure weapons are properly stored to prevent similar incidents.
