Residents and landscaping crews are prohibited from using leaf blowers anywhere in New Rochelle through Sept. 30 under the city’s seasonal noise control ordinance.
The City of New Rochelle’s seasonal ban on leaf blower use is now in effect, prohibiting the operation of leaf blowers anywhere in the city from June 1 through Sept. 30.
The New Rochelle Police Department reminded residents and landscaping contractors of the annual restriction, which is part of the city’s Noise Control Ordinance aimed at reducing seasonal noise.
Leaf blowers prohibited all summer

According to the department, leaf blowers may not be operated at any time during the four-month prohibition period.
“From June 1 through September 30, leaf blowers may not be operated,” the New Rochelle Police Department said in a public notice.
The seasonal restrictions are established under the City of New Rochelle Noise Control Ordinance (Municipal Code § 213-5(G)(3)).
Limited hours allowed the rest of the year
Once the seasonal ban ends, leaf blowers may only be used during designated hours.
From Oct. 1 through May 31, leaf blowers are permitted:
- Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Police encouraged residents to review the city’s seasonal regulations before operating leaf blowers.
