Surveillance images released after daytime shooting leaves woman hospitalized in Southwest DC
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A woman was hospitalized after being shot in a daytime attack in Southwest DC on Wednesday, prompting police to release surveillance images of a suspect as investigators work to identify the person responsible.
The shooting was reported at approximately 12:59 p.m. Wednesday when officers responded to the 300 block of Maple Drive SW for reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found an adult woman who was conscious and breathing while suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The investigation determined that the shooting occurred in the 200 block of K Street SW, despite the initial response occurring on Maple Drive SW.
Police released surveillance photos showing a suspect believed to be connected to the shooting. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual.
