Suspect steals cash drawer then gets caught pulling into another Wawa

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A theft at a local convenience store took an unexpected turn when the suspect was spotted pulling into another Wawa shortly after the crime.

The incident happened late Thursday, March 27 on Richmond Highway, where a change drawer was stolen from a Wawa.

Authorities quickly circulated details about the suspect vehicle — including visible front-end damage.

That detail paid off.

A nearby officer spotted the same vehicle arriving at another Wawa on Route 610 and made contact.

During the encounter, the suspect admitted to not having a valid driver’s license, and further investigation revealed it had been suspended.

A search of the vehicle uncovered the stolen change drawer hidden under the passenger seat.

The suspect, Thomas Greenlaw, 39, of Big Stone Gap, was arrested and charged with petit larceny and driving with a suspended license.

He was held without bond.
