Driver arrested for DUI after swerving onto West Oakland Avenue from Route 208

Oakland, NJ – A Highland Lakes man was arrested earlier this month after police received a complaint about a potentially intoxicated driver traveling northbound on Route 208, prompting a response from multiple officers in the area.

On Friday, November 8, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Franklin Lakes Police were alerted to the vehicle, which was reportedly swerving as it headed toward Oakland. Officer Nicholas Maricich located the vehicle as it exited I-287 South and initiated a traffic stop on West Oakland Avenue.

Following a roadside investigation, the 34-year-old driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Police confirmed that the suspect was transported to the station for processing and later released to a responsible adult.
