Shots Fired in Teaneck Lead to Two Arrests
**TEANECK, NJ** – Early Thursday morning at approximately 4:27 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was received about gunfire near Harding Avenue and Glenwood Avenue. Responding officers reported residents heard three gunshots and saw two cars leaving the area at high speed.
Witnesses also noted three individuals in dark clothing and ski masks walking on Washington Street, near Glenwood Avenue. A vehicle occupied by three males was stopped by officers in the vicinity. The males in the vehicle were wearing dark clothing and face coverings.
Upon investigation, officers found a black bag in the rear seat containing a loaded Glock 43X 9mm handgun with a tactical light. Two individuals, Alexander J. McFarland and Kawan N. Vining, were subsequently charged with various offenses.
Mr. McFarland faces charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and a large capacity magazine. He was processed and held at the Bergen County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center. On Monday, police discovered a 2023 Acura TLX missing several components. It was located on the 200 block of Secaucus Road and was reported stolen from Kenilworth on December 31.
Undercover detectives arranged a purchase of the stolen Acura parts, leading to the arrest of Jarol Vasquez-Puig and Freddy Mendoza-Polanco on Wednesday. The operation took place outside Vasquez-Puig’s residence in Jersey City.
Detectives subsequently searched Vasquez-Puig’s home and recovered several stolen automotive parts and a motorcycle reported stolen from Jersey City on December 6. Both men face numerous charges including receiving stolen property and fencing. The investigation remains active, with further arrests possible. **Stafford, VA** – A Stafford man was apprehended Sunday afternoon, two days after evading police during an eviction at a North Stafford apartment.
Deputies initially served an eviction order at an apartment in Garrison Woods on Friday afternoon. A man, later identified as Keenan Duncan, 29, provided a false name and birth date while leaving the apartment in a black face covering. As officers tried to verify his identity, Duncan fled the scene.
The foot chase led deputies behind the apartment complex towards Sky Terrace, where the suspect disappeared through a fence. Attempts to locate Duncan on Friday were unsuccessful, and deputies pursued leads throughout the weekend without success.
On Sunday afternoon, a Perry Farms resident reported a break-in. First Sergeant J.J. Kreider and Deputy A.M. Pitts discovered Duncan hiding in a basement bathroom and arrested him without incident. Duncan now faces charges of obstruction of justice, false identity, public mask-wearing, identity fraud, breaking and entering, vandalism, petit larceny, and possession of controlled substances. He is being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Fort Washington. The incident resulted in the death of 31-year-old Nancy Velasquez, a resident of Fort Washington.
Police responded to the scene on the 7300 block of Allentown Road at approximately 1:00 p.m. Velasquez was pronounced dead at the scene following the single-vehicle crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that Velasquez was traveling westbound on Allentown Road when her vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a house. No injuries were reported from occupants inside the home.
