Maryland State Police Investigate Homicide in St. Mary’s County

**LEXINGTON PARK, MD** – The Maryland State Police are conducting an investigation into a homicide that took place Friday in St. Mary’s County.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Chaquanda Latise Odom from California, Maryland. Emergency services declared her deceased at the scene.

Officers from the Leonardtown Barrack responded to a shooting report on Liberty Street, Lexington Park, at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they found Odom with multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Jayson David Pressley, Odom’s ex-husband, after he surrendered at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Pressley faces charges of first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. They are supported by other divisions of the state police, as well as the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and State’s Attorney’s Office. Further details are available on the MSP News page.

Asbury Park Man Sentenced in 2022 Ocean County Killing

**FREEHOLD, NJ** – An Asbury Park man has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus an additional 46 years for the 2022 killing of an Ocean County resident, as announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago on Friday. Jaszhark A. Rogers, 38, received the sentence for first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree armed robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, and three second-degree weapons charges.

Rogers was convicted on August 16, and sentenced on Friday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Joseph W. Oxley. His sentence includes life imprisonment plus two additional 18-year sentences for armed robbery and weapons charges, along with a consecutive 10-year sentence for the Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons charge.

The incident occurred on June 18, 2022, when Asbury Park Police found 26-year-old Yahnie Patterson of Lakewood severely injured on Washington Avenue. Patterson was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 21, 2022.

An investigation showed Rogers and Shakri A. Prince, also of Asbury Park,
