Suspect Charged in Utica Purse Theft

**Utica, NY** – On March 16th, Utica Police responded to a report of a stolen purse on the 1100 block of Schuyler St. The purse contained credit cards and other personal items.

During the investigation, authorities discovered the suspect attempted to use the victim’s identification at a convenience store to buy cigarettes. The store clerk did not complete the sale because the photo ID did not match the suspect.

This information was relayed to the victim, who informed the police. The Criminal Investigations Division took over, identifying the suspect. Later, the victim saw the suspect again near the store and retrieved some stolen property following an altercation.

On April 2nd, the suspect, Fonta Young, age 41, was apprehended and faces charges. These include two counts of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and Petit Larceny.

The riders ran stop signs and performed stunts on public roads.

One individual, Antoine Orlando Jones Jr., aged 23 from Delmar, operated a blue dirt bike with a female passenger, neither wearing helmets. The group traversed various city streets, including the vicinity of Salisbury University. Law enforcement intercepted them near Mt. Hermon Road, at which point Jones attempted to escape on foot.

Jones resisted arrest after being pursued on foot but was eventually apprehended following a brief struggle. The off-road vehicles were impounded by authorities. Although other individuals involved have been identified, the investigation is ongoing. Subsequently, Jones was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center and later appeared before a commissioner.

The victim reported an altercation with Normedis Arevalo, the defendant, who allegedly threw furniture, striking him in the back. Additionally, Arevalo reportedly scratched the victim’s neck and placed her hands around his neck.

Subsequently, the defendant was taken into custody and transported to City Headquarters. Arevalo is to face processing and arraignment for the incident.

**Severn, MD** – On Thursday, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police conducted a traffic stop involving a gray Honda Cross-tour at the intersection of Golden Eagle Lane and Redhawk Way.

The driver, Thomas Lee Gross, was identified as previously wanted in connection with a citizen robbery. Upon the attempted stop, Gross fled the vehicle on foot but was captured a short distance away without incident.

A subsequent search of the Honda Cross-tour revealed a significant amount of narcotics and cash. Police seized about 13 pills of suspected Oxycodone, 11.5 pills of Alprazolam, 23 pills of MDMA, roughly 1 ounce of Promethazine, 16.73 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms, approximately 913.27 grams of Cannabis, and $2,717 in cash.

Thomas Lee Gross, a 24-year-old male from Severn, Maryland, was arrested and is now facing charges related to the incident.

The incident occurred on February 26th, 2025, at 9:06 PM, involving Skyler Williams, 36, and a 32-year-old female victim, both residents of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Officers responded to a residence following a call about a domestic dispute.

According to the victim, a verbal altercation escalated when Williams allegedly struck her in the face with his head. The victim reported that Williams placed his hands around her neck, threatening to kill her.

The victim managed to escape and contact emergency services. Williams was subsequently arrested and taken to City Headquarters, where he was processed and arraigned.

**UTICA, NY** – On February 27, Utica Police and Fire units responded to a domestic assault call at a residence on Scott Street. The incident involved a female victim who alleged she was attacked by her husband.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who claimed that an argument with her husband escalated, leading her to hide in a bathroom. The victim reported that she attempted to escape but was struck multiple times in the head with a wooden object, resulting in lacerations and pain.

The Utica Fire Department transported the victim to Wynn Hospital for treatment. In accordance with New York State’s mandatory domestic violence arrest laws, the husband, identified as Michael Leggett, 57, was arrested at the scene.

Leggett was brought to the Utica Police Department and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
