A 14-year-old has been charged after a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy in Akron, police announced.

AKRON, Ohio — A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Akron teen following an ongoing police investigation.

According to the Akron Police Department, detectives filed charges in the June 30 shooting death of 15-year-old Josiah Harris, which occurred in the 1200 block of Packard Drive.

The juvenile has been charged with negligent homicide, carrying concealed weapons, improperly discharging a firearm and tampering with evidence.

Police said the suspect has been taken into custody and is being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The charges are allegations, and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless and until proven delinquent in juvenile court.
