Teen charged with murder in deadly baltimore shooting after arrest on unrelated case — handcuff

Police say 16-year-old was served with a murder warrant while in juvenile custody

BALTIMORE, MD — A 16-year-old Baltimore teen has been charged as an adult in the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man after detectives served him with a murder warrant while he was in juvenile custody on an unrelated case, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

The charges stem from the Feb. 28 fatal shooting of 35-year-old Quinton McLellan in the 1500 block of Ashland Avenue.

Police said the teen was served with the murder warrant on Thursday, July 24, while he was in Juvenile Booking on an unrelated charge.

Following the warrant service, the suspect was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged as an adult with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and additional charges.

Baltimore police did not release further details about the investigation or the unrelated case that led to the teen being in juvenile custody.

The case remains under investigation. The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
