This Spot in Delaware is The East Coast’s Mini-Version of Area 51 and Rosewell

MILTON, DE – Area 51 might have all the secret alien research tech, and Roswell might have the Little A’Le’Inn, but Milton Delaware has a UFO and a beer garden at a local aerodrome facility.

If you’re looking for an eclectic mix of retro-futurism and craft beer, the Eagle Crest Aerodrome in Milton, DE, is a must-visit. At this unique location, you’ll find the iconic Futuro House, a quirky, UFO-shaped home that’s been turning heads for decades, alongside the Revelation Beer Garden, housed in a repurposed airplane hangar that occasionally held events like Octoberfest in the past.

The Futuro House is a fascinating piece of 1960s design, crafted by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen.

Originally conceived as a portable ski chalet, its sleek, saucer-like structure is made from fiberglass and is reminiscent of a space-age dream. One of only a few hundred ever produced, the Milton Futuro has served various purposes over the years. At one point, it was even used as an office for a local aerial spraying business.

It sat vacant for almost two decades before undergoing restoration in the 1990s. Today, this unusual structure continues to stand out at the Eagle Crest Aerodrome, offering a rare glimpse into the future as envisioned during the mid-20th century.

Next to this piece of architectural history is the Revelation Beer Garden, tucked inside a vintage airplane hangar. This spot offers a laid-back, outdoor setting perfect for enjoying a cold beer with friends for their many seasonal events over the years.

Check their website calendar before visiting as it doesn’t appear they have been open for the 2024 season.

Revelation Craft Brewing, known for their creative brews like the Sussex County Mule, serves up a rotating selection of craft beers on tap. The beer garden often features live music, making it a go-to hangout for locals and tourists alike. They have spots in Georgetown and Rehoboth Beach if you want to check them out.

Together, the Futuro House and the Revelation Beer Garden make for an unusual yet complementary pairing—combining futuristic design with old-school relaxation.

Whether you’re a history buff, architecture lover, or just in need of a great place to sip on craft beer, this corner of Milton has something to offer.
