Camden, N.J. – Three additional juveniles have been charged in connection to the fatal beating of a homeless man in Camden, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki. A 12-year-old, 13-year-old, and 14-year-old have each been charged with one count of first-degree Murder and one count of second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Kaighn Ave. in Camden shortly after midnight on June 25 for a report of an unresponsive man in the alleyway. When they arrived, they found a homeless man, identified as Bobby J. Hill Jr., 63, suffering from multiple injuries to the head. Hill was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. A medical examiner determined he died from blunt force trauma. A 17-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy were charged in connection to the fatal beating on June 30.
Through further investigation, detectives tied the three juveniles, who were 11, 12, and 13 at the time of the homicide, to the crime through witness statements and surveillance footage. All five juveniles have been arrested and are awaiting court proceedings.
