GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Three suspects have been charged in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old male in Montgomery Village, following a police pursuit through local neighborhoods and onto Interstate 270, authorities said. The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police’s 6th District Investigative Section identified the suspects after an attempted traffic stop led to a high-speed chase.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Terrence Stover and 19-year-old Tyriq Roberts Hawkins, both of Germantown, along with an unnamed 16-year-old male from Olney, allegedly carried out the shooting in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle around 4:58 p.m. on November 7. Police reported that the suspects were seen arriving at the location in a gray Honda Odyssey, parking outside an apartment building before entering.

Inside the building, one of the suspects reportedly opened fire on the 17-year-old victim, leaving him with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers from the 6th District Community Action Team were nearby at the time and responded immediately, providing first aid until Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel arrived to transport the victim to a hospital.

After the shooting, police attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle, which evaded the officers and fled the scene, leading to a pursuit that spanned multiple neighborhoods and continued onto I-270. The chase came to a halt in the vicinity of Longdraft and Clopper Roads when the suspects abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Police established a perimeter in the area and initiated a search, with support from K-9 units, Montgomery County Police’s Raven helicopter, special assignment teams from the 1st, 5th, and 6th Districts, and officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department. With assistance from community members, all three suspects were apprehended and taken into custody shortly after.

The Montgomery County Department of Police has not disclosed specific charges or further details regarding the suspects’ court dates. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
