Two juveniles arrested in armed carjacking on Piedmont Avenue

BALTIMORE, MD — A 12-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested Saturday night following an armed carjacking on the 3400 block of Piedmont Avenue in Northwest Baltimore, marking another incident involving repeat juvenile offenders.

The incident unfolded around 11:05 p.m. when Northwest District officers responded to the armed robbery. Members of the Regional Auto Theft Taskforce quickly located the stolen vehicle, with support from Foxtrot and County Aviation units.

Both juveniles attempted to flee from the vehicle but were apprehended by officers shortly after. They were taken to the Juvenile Justice Center, where authorities sought detention for the suspects. However, both were released on monitoring, despite the 15-year-old having six prior arrests, including charges for handgun violations, assault, and auto theft.

The arrests highlight ongoing concerns over juvenile crime in Baltimore, as officials work to address recidivism and public safety.

Anyone with further information about the incident is encouraged to contact Baltimore police at 410-396-2444 or provide tips anonymously through the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
