More than a year after gunfire erupted on East Preston Street, homicide detectives arrested two men now facing first-degree murder charges.

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore shooting that left a 33-year-old man critically wounded has led to two first-degree murder charges after the victim later died from his injuries, bringing a homicide investigation that spanned more than a year to a pair of arrests.

Baltimore Police said 23-year-old Kahree Fowlkes and 22-year-old Kamal Godwin, both of Baltimore, were arrested in connection with the death of 33-year-old Sir Bryant Alston.

The investigation began at approximately 12:55 a.m. on June 30, 2025, when officers responded to the 1100 block of East Preston Street for a reported shooting. Officers found Alston suffering from a gunshot wound and transported him to an area hospital for treatment.

Police said Alston died from his injuries on July 25, 2025. Eastern District homicide detectives later obtained arrest warrants charging Fowlkes and Godwin with his killing.

On Monday, July 14, 2026, Northwest District patrol officers arrested Godwin in the 4700 block of Mount Hope Drive. Later that day, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Fowlkes in the 5100 block of Terrace Drive.

Both men were transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where they were charged with first-degree murder.

Police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or a possible motive.
