SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Jamie Volini, 46, of East Patchogue, and John Mahoney, 41, of Mastic, have been indicted for burglary, grand larceny, and related charges. The pair allegedly broke into six commercial businesses and targeted ATMs within a one-month span.
District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the arrests, attributing them to diligent investigative work by the Suffolk County Police Department. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure that those who steal the property of others are held responsible,” said Tierney.
The investigation revealed that in March, Volini and Mahoney allegedly burglarized five businesses and attempted to burglarize another in the Towns of Islip and Brookhaven. They successfully removed two ATMs and stole money from a third.
On June 18, law enforcement placed Volini and Mahoney in custody. Volini was allegedly found with over an eighth of an ounce of cocaine at the time of his arrest.
Volini and Mahoney face multiple charges including five counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, three counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, and one count of Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree. Volini also faces a charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.
Volini was arraigned on July 3 before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro, who set bail at $150,000 cash, $350,000 bond, or $800,000 partially secured bond. Mahoney was arraigned on July 10 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr., who ordered supervised release with GPS conditions.
Volini is due back in court on August 8, represented by Christopher Ross, Esq. Mahoney is due back on July 16, represented by William Griffin, Esq.
