ESSEX, Md. — Baltimore County police arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting early Monday morning that left a 15-year-old boy injured.

Officers responded to the area of Bayner and Sandalwood roads in Essex around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Thanks to the swift actions of Essex patrol officers, the suspects were quickly apprehended. Both suspects, whose names have not been released, are being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center on charges that include attempted first-degree murder.

Investigators with the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit believe the shooting was targeted, though no further details about a possible motive have been provided.
