Two Teens Shot at North Jersey High School Football Game

August 30, 2024

In a tragic turn of events at the Passaic County Technical Institute football game in Wayne, two young teens were shot on Friday night, sending shockwaves through the community.

The game, which saw the Tech Bulldogs narrowly edge out Lenape High School with a 14-10 victory, ended in chaos as gunfire erupted shortly after 7:30 p.m. The victims, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, were rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. While their conditions remain unclear, the immediate aftermath left families and students in a state of shock and fear.

Authorities acted swiftly, and two suspects were apprehended at the scene, with a weapon reportedly recovered.

The details surrounding the motive or what led to the shooting are still under investigation, but the situation was grave enough to prompt law enforcement to temporarily hold everyone at the field. Families anxiously waited as the youngsters were slowly released to their loved ones.

Reports of a possible third victim circulated, though they haven’t been confirmed at this time. The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the county prosecutor’s office and other agencies, is conducting a thorough investigation.

What began as an exciting night of high school football ended in tragedy, leaving the community reeling.

The focus now shifts from the game to the well-being of the victims and the ongoing investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
