Utica man stabbed multiple times in street attack near Elizabeth Street

UTICA, NY — A man was rushed into emergency surgery Tuesday evening after being stabbed multiple times during a violent altercation near the intersection of Elizabeth and Burnett Streets, according to Utica Police.

Just after 5:20 p.m., officers and fire units responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from several stab wounds across his body. Utica Fire personnel provided immediate medical aid and transported him to Wynn Hospital, where he was taken into surgery. Hospital staff successfully performed life-saving procedures, and the victim is expected to survive.

Investigators say the stabbing occurred during an altercation between the victim and the suspect, who fled the area before police arrived. No suspect description has been released, and no arrests have been made.

The case has been assigned to the Utica Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, which is continuing the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, either directly or anonymously through Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers.
