NEW YORK, NY – Tarik Sheppard has been appointed the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) for the New York City Police Department, as announced by Police Commissioner Edward A. Caban.

A 19-year veteran with the NYPD, Sheppard has served in multiple roles throughout his career, most recently as the Commanding Officer of the 28th Precinct in Harlem. His previous responsibilities include managing a specialized team in the Commissioner’s Office and advising departmental executives.

Sheppard began his career as a patrol officer in 2004 in the Wakefield area of the Bronx. He was promoted through the ranks, reaching the role of Deputy Inspector earlier this year. Sheppard has been involved in managing responses to high-profile emergencies, including terrorist attacks and officer-involved shootings.
