West Baltimore shooter busted as victim fights for life after Lafayette Avenue attack

Laurel man nabbed in West Baltimore shooting now facing attempted murder charge

Baltimore, MD — A man accused of opening fire on a victim in West Baltimore has been taken into custody days after the shooting left a 44-year-old man critically injured.

Michael Parkerton, 26, of Laurel, was arrested April 15 in the 2500 block of West Lafayette Avenue in connection with the April 11 shooting, according to Baltimore Police.

Officers originally responded around 2:46 p.m. to the 1100 block of West Lafayette Avenue, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

Detectives identified Parkerton as the suspect and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to Central Booking, where he has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and multiple handgun violations.

The investigation remains ongoing.
