WILDWOOD, NJ – Wildwood Boardwalks have been awarded over $9 million in Boardwalk Preservation Fund grants by the Murphy Administration.
In a significant boost to local infrastructure and tourism, the Murphy Administration has announced the allocation of $100 million in grants to strengthen boardwalks across New Jersey. Of this, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have received a substantial share, totaling $8,269,013 and $1,087,425, respectively. These grants, administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), are aimed at assisting municipalities in addressing critical needs and ensuring the longevity and resilience of these iconic structures.
The funding, sourced from the American Rescue Plan’s Coronavirus State & Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining the Jersey Shore’s appeal as a premier tourist destination. By investing in durable materials and infrastructure improvements, the initiative promises to enhance storm resiliency and accessibility, ensuring the boardwalks continue to attract visitors and drive local economies for years to come.
Eligible projects for the grant include the replacement of aging decking and pilings, the construction of ADA-compliant ramps and railings, and the expansion of boardwalk areas. The grants are part of a broader effort to support economic recovery and revitalize New Jersey’s coastal communities, with a focus on those experiencing financial distress. All funded projects are required to be completed by December 31, 2026, marking a significant step forward in preserving the health and dynamism of Wildwood’s cherished boardwalks.
