Woman, 10-year-old girl found shot and killed in south park

SOUTH PARK, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating after a woman and a child were found dead in South Park on Thursday. The incident was reported to the Mt. Lebanon Police at 2:30 PM, following a welfare check request for a 43-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl.

By 7:18 PM, investigators confirmed the location of the woman’s vehicle at Diana Grove in South Park. Officers dispatched to the site discovered the bodies of the woman and the child inside the vehicle. A

lthough preliminary reports indicate no apparent signs of trauma on the victims, the Allegheny County Homicide Unit is awaiting further details from the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death.

The ongoing investigation has so far led detectives to believe that there is no imminent threat to the public.

Further developments will be dependent on the results of the medical examiner’s findings.
