A 34-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and injured after confronting a man who groped her in a Bronx apartment building, police said.
The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on June 12 near West Farms Road and Freeman Street. The victim was waiting for the elevator inside a residential building when the suspect came up behind her and grabbed her buttocks.
When she turned to confront him, the attacker shoved her, causing a swollen finger and pain in her arm. EMS transported her to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where she was treated and listed in stable condition.
The suspect fled east on Freeman Street and remains at large.
Police describe the man as having a medium complexion, heavy build, a beard, and a curly afro. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, beige pants, multicolored sneakers, and carrying a black backpack.
The NYPD has released surveillance images and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.
