Philadelphia, PA – A woman was found stabbed to death inside a West Philadelphia rooming house on Easter Sunday, prompting an active homicide investigation as police work to determine what led to the fatal attack.

Officers responded to the 55xx block of West Girard Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing inside the residence. When they arrived, they discovered an adult female suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Medics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at 1:50 p.m., according to preliminary information released by police.

“In the 19th District, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 1:35 p.m. inside a rooming house located on the 55xx block of West Girard Avenue,” police said. “Upon arrival, police located an adult female suffering from multiple stab wounds.”

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

The scene remains secured as investigators continue to gather evidence and canvass the area.

“At this time, there is no known motive and no arrests have been made,” police said. “The investigation remains ongoing with the Homicide Unit.”
