Deadly shots ring out on Wheeler Road leaving man dead

Washington, DC — A late-night shooting in Southeast D.C. left a 22-year-old man dead after officers found him unresponsive on a residential block, marking another homicide under investigation in the city.

Police responded around 10:11 p.m. Thursday to the 3300 block of Wheeler Road Southeast for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was unconscious and not breathing.

DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, but despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the victim as 22-year-old Dwayne Isaacs of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

No suspect information has been released as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
