15 year old busted after armed street robberies in DC

Teen nabbed in back to back Northeast robberies as police recover stolen property

Washington, DC — A series of street encounters in Northeast Washington escalated from a failed robbery attempt to an armed holdup before officers tracked down and arrested a 15-year-old suspect found carrying a victim’s belongings.

The first incident unfolded Tuesday at approximately 3:45 p.m. near 55th and Clay Streets Northeast, where multiple suspects approached a victim. One implied he had a gun and demanded money and property, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. When the victim refused, a struggle followed, during which property was damaged. The suspects fled on foot without obtaining any items.

Two days later, on Thursday at about 6:34 p.m., a second robbery was reported in the 5800 block of Foote Street Northeast. In that case, police said a suspect displayed a firearm and demanded property before fleeing with the victim’s belongings.

Officers canvassing the area following the second robbery located a suspect matching the description and found him in possession of the stolen property. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspect as a 15-year-old male from Northeast Washington. He has been charged in connection with both incidents, including armed robbery and destruction of property.

Both cases remain under investigation as officials continue to seek information from the public. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in violent crime cases in the District.
