15-year-old victim seeks help at high school after East Capitol Street shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 15-year-old boy was shot Friday morning behind an apartment complex on East Capitol Street Southeast, prompting an investigation as police search for suspects caught on camera.

The shooting occurred around 9:42 a.m. in an alley on the 1700 block of East Capitol Street, police said. The teenager, who suffered a gunshot wound, managed to run to Eastern High School to seek help and was transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Surveillance footage from the area captured images of the suspects and their vehicle, which detectives have released in hopes of identifying those responsible.

Investigators are asking for the community’s help in locating the suspects but caution against direct action. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the shooting.
